
Chief Witherspoon has been in law enforcement since 1977. He began his career with the Washington Court House Police Department as a jailer/dispatcher, and served with them for 2 1/2 years. In 1979 he came to the Sheriff's Office, and worked as a jailer/dispatcher. Chief Witherspoon was certified as a Peace Officer in 1981 through the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy, and worked for a time as a patrol officer. Witherspoon was appointed as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Stanforth. In addition to his administrative duties, he also serves as the S.T.A.R Team commander. Chief Witherspoon's law enforcement training is very extensive, and include the following: F.B.I. National Academy Graduate NARCOTICS INVESTIGATIONS ADMINISTRATIVE LEADS. Chief Witherspoon is also very active in numerous organizations including past President of the F.O.P., Vice Pres. of P.A.L., MAGLOCLEN, NARCO, the International Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association, Masonic Lodge #107 (Washington Court House), Scottish Rite (Valley of Columbus), Aladdin Shrine, Vice President of the Washington Shrine Club, the Shrine Provost Unit, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. In the spare time that he has, Witherspoon enjoys Harley Davidson motorcycles, golf, coaching Little League baseball.
