Drug Abuse Resistance Education
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Miami Trace School District initiated the DARE Program in the 1994-1995 school year.
The DARE program is totally funded through fundraisers and donations from the community. DARE officer salaries have been paid through grants from the Ohio Attorney General's Office and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
Since its inception, the DARE program has given second grade introductory classes to over 2391 students. The fifth grade core program have been taught to over 2440 students. Over 1630 junior high students have also been instructed.
