Who We Are
The Fayette County Dog Warden answers calls for stray dogs, complaints on dogs running at large, and we nvestigate animals killed by dogs and coyotes. Don't assume because the Police Dept. or Sheriff's Office is contacted that we will respond. Call us the following day on complaints and dog bites to make sure we are aware of the call and responding.
We are open to people looking for a missing dog/puppy, looking for a new dog/puppy, and people who just want to look at the dogs/puppies. We accept dogs and puppies from owners as well as strays. Donations for this service are accepted. We offer tips on dog care and have FREE information in general for dog/puppy owners. We have a bulletin board for people to offer dogs/puppies to good homes or missing dog/puppy posters.
We are called to retrieve at least 30 to 35 dogs per week. These dogs are either lost, abandoned, or ...."just isn't the same cute puppy we bought". We try, but there just aren't enough homes for all the dogs/puppies, so we can use your help.

PLEASE KEEP A VISIBLE LICENSE OR IDENTIFICATION TAG ON YOUR DOG
Immunization
WHEN?
By the time your dog is 3 to 4 months of age. It s wise to follow the advise of your veterinarian in this area. Depending upon which vaccine your vet used, you will need new shots every 1 or 3 years.
WHERE?
By a veterinarian who is associated with a registered veterinary facility.
WHY?
The answer to this is simple. Rabies can be contracted by any warm blooded animal-including man. It is almost always fatal. Rabies immunization helps to prevent contraction of the disease. Rabies is normally transferred through a bite or scratch. This can only occur when animals are together, so it is safer to keep your dog confined.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR DOG SPAY/NEUTER AT THE APPROPRIATE AGE.
We accept ALL TYPES OF DONATIONS!
THANKS to all of you who have already adopted a dog/puppy from the pound, and also those who have contributed to the cause.
