Deputy Eckles joined the Fayette County Sheriff's Office in 1986, and served as a jailer. A short time later, Keith obtained his Ohio Peace Officers Certificate, and was moved into the patrol division. After 9 years as patrolman, he resigned his full time position to pursue a career in the private sector. Keith continues to be an active Auxiliary Unit, and is a member of the S.T.A.R. Team.
