Money will not be accepted during visitation. Money can be deposited 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by using the Kiosk in the lobby at the Sheriff's Office. Money orders can be sent by U.S. mail and will be deposited onto the inmate's commissary account when received.

Inmate Mail

While incarcerated inmates may receive and send U.S. Mail. Mail received will be opened and inspected for contraband. Once inspected the mail will be delivered to the inmate. Letters from Attorneys, Courts of record, government officials will be opened in the presence of the inmate, inspected for contraband and given to the inmate.
Inmates may send an unlimited amount of U.S. mail while incarcerated. Stamped envelopes may be purchased through commissary.
Indigent inmates upon request, will be provided with enough writing materials, i.e. paper, pen, envelope, postage to mail two letters per week.

Telephone
The Fayette County Jail has an inmate telephone system. Inmates may make unlimited collect phone calls during calling hours, 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.
Inmates may purchase phone cards at designated times. Minimum cost for phone cards are $5.00.
Special Note: Corrections Staff will not take telephone messages for inmates. Only verifiable emergency messages will be taken.
Commissary
Inmates may purchase personal hygiene products, writing supplies, games, greeting cards, snacks, etc. through the weekly commissary. Commissary orders are submitted once a week, on Mondays, and will be received on Wednesday. (When Monday is a holiday, orders will be processed on Tuesday with delivery on Thursday)
NEW Effective 03-17-2010: Money may be deposited into the inmates commissary account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by using the Kiosk in the hallway at the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Money orders may be sent to inmates through the U.S. Mail. Money orders will be deposited into the inmate's commissary account.
Indigent inmates will be provided personal hygiene items on an as needed basis not to exceed one per week.
Special Notice: Within the first 24 hours of an inmate's incarceration, the following items will be accepted for the inmate.
1- roll on deodorant (in clear plastic container)
1- shampoo (in clear plastic container)
1- bar soap
1- Bible
Writing paper (no spiral bound notebooks)
10 - stamped envelopes
6 - pair white socks
6 - white t-shirts (no tank tops / no designs)
6 - white briefs
6 - white bras (no under wire)
10 - photos
1 - plastic comb
1 - tooth paste (clear plastic container)
All other items must be purchased from Commissary.
