Deputy Long began his law enforcement career with the Washington Court House Police Department in January of 1981 and currently holds the rank of Sergeant. On January 28, 2000, Jon came to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office as an Auxiliary Deputy working heavily in the Patrol Division. Deputy Long holds two OPOTA certificates. One from the Washington Court House Police Academy and the other from The Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. Jon is Instructor certified, a firearms instructor and is a training officer. Deputy Long has extensive training in narcotics investigations and is certified with the scoped rifle. His favorite pastimes are golf, riding his Harley and traveling. Deputy Long believes that: "Nobody gets out alive! Live each day as though it were your last."
